Nutritionists list the 5 healthiest dishes at McDonalds

Have you decided to eat at McDonald’s, but are you paying attention to your figure? Here are the best choices on the menu, according to two American nutritionists.

As you can imagine: if you want to lose weight, going to eat at McDonald’s is not the best idea. Indeed: most of the dishes offered happily explode the calorie counter (special mention for the Beef BBQ – 2 Meats, a sandwich which totals 937 Kcal, when the official recommendations are around 2000 Kcal per day for an adult…) and are often too fatty, too sweet, too salty and/or too rich in food additives.

Yes, but here it is: whether it’s because of friends, because of the children or (simply) because of an irresistible desire, you sometimes find yourself at “McDo” in spite of yourself. So what are the best choices for health and for the figure? Two American nutritionists, Catherine Karnatz and Lara Clevenger, made a list of the “healthiest” fast-food dishes with our colleagues at the New York Post.

To eat healthily, choose “homemade” fast food…

The first option is obvious: these are the fruits. La P’tite Mango, Le P’tit Ananas and La P’tite Pomme do not exceed 45 Kcal per serving. Good for dessert! Please note: some of these fruits are only available as part of the children’s menu (Happy Meal).

Next choice: the vanilla sunday. Provided you choose it plain (without topping or peanut chips…), it only peaks at 200 Kcal per serving. American nutritionists add that this dessert is a good source of calcium (it contains 15% of the recommended daily intake for an adult) and protein (5 g per serving).

What about burgers? For American nutritionists, the key is simplicity. Thus, the classic burger from McDonald’s is the healthiest choice with only 261 Kcal per serving, 13 g of protein, 1.3 g of salt and 3.3 g of saturated fatty acids. However, will it be enough to satisfy the biggest hungers? Not sure.

The following recommendation concerns breakfast: specialists advise Egg & Cheese McMuffin, a sandwich that contains egg and melted cheese. Calorie bill: 263 Kcal per serving, but also 16 g of protein. Enough to start the day with energy… as long as you like salty food when you get out of bed.

Finally, for athletes and fans of high-protein diets, nutritionists recommend McCrispy, a sandwich composed in particular of a breaded chicken fillet. If it displays 495 Kcal per serving (yes, that’s a lot), it also contains 24 g of protein, or 49% of the recommended daily intake for an adult. Not bad.

Interesting choices… but to eat healthily, remember that nothing beats “homemade”!
