Now Tinni’s future is decided – so will the bath in Linköping

A new bathhouse in Linköping has been an important and debated issue for many years. Last winter the bathhouse itself was inaugurated, what remains is Tinnis bathing lake – where the ruling politicians now set foot.

– It feels good that we can give a final statement about the area’s future. Now there will be no more investigations, says Kristina Edlund (S), the chairman of the municipal board.

Smaller bath area

The old swimming lake was 12,000 square meters in size, the new one is expected to be 5,500 square meters. Tinnerbäcken today flows through a culvert where the lake will be built. According to the municipality’s investigators, the culvert will not be able to cope with the increased amounts of water that are expected due to climate change, so they have reviewed various alternatives for drawing the stream.

– We are drawing the stream above ground and Tinnis will be a great place for the people of Linköping with, among other things, a swimming lake and recreation area, says Kristina Edlund (S).
