EU, Coldiretti: wrong nature restoration law

EU Coldiretti wrong nature restoration law

(Finance) – “The conflict between the farmer and nature must not be fueled regarding the restoration of nature. It is a law that would end up decreasing agricultural production and increasing the bureaucracy borne by businesses, without giving the right role to the farmer who in reality it is the first and true guardian of the environment”. Thus the president of Coldiretti Ettore Prandini comments on what was recently stated by the president of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen in a letter, made known in recent days, to some MEPs who asked to carry forward the proposal.

If on the one hand the positions of the ministers seem likely to lead to a postponement of the vote on the provisional trilogue agreement, approved not without difficulty and divisions also by the European Parliament, on the other hand the Commission does not seem to want to realize the impact of a provision wrong and which, in addition to penalizing farmers without protecting their income, would not bring the desired environmental effects.
?AND? wrong ? concludes Prandini? the attempt by President Von der Leyen to force the time for the closure of an agreement on a wrong proposal which will end up penalizing the agricultural world, with the consequence of instead opening the EU to the import of products that do not respect our high standards social and environmental standards. We hoped that the Timmermans era was over, but instead this attempt by the President reopens the choices of a policy far from reality.”
