Now the winner has been chosen – this is what Helsingborg’s new bathhouse will look like

The new bathhouse is meant to be accessible to everyone – regardless of whether you are there for fun and games, exercise swimming or training at an elite level. And the bill is estimated to land at one billion kroner for Oceanbadet.

The city will own the bath, but whether the operation will be municipal or private has not yet been determined.

– I think we should keep an open mind for an external possibility to operate the bath, says Christian Orsing (M), chairman of the municipal board.

A mixture of chlorine and salt

Whether it is wise to place a bathhouse so close to the Öresund’s salty water in view of rising sea levels is not something that worries Orsing.

– It is always possible to argue about, we believe that it is a great strength to link the water experience to a location close to the sea in order to have water contact and be able to swim in the sea. There are always new recommendations on height adjustments and we follow that all the time and adapt to it, says Orsing.
