Sweden has had enough of hearing the Norwegian national anthem.
Biathlon expert Ola Lunde has only one thing to say about that:
– Home and train!
Sweden did get a bronze in the opening mixed relay in the WC, but after that it has been gloomy. And especially on the men’s side. There, Norway has completely dominated, and in the two individual competitions that have taken place so far, it has been Norway as first, second and third both times.
Samuelsson’s anger
In the most recent competition, the hunt start, there were also as many as five Norwegians in the top, before Sebastian Samuelsson crossed the finish line in sixth. And now Samuelsson is tired of hearing the Norwegian national anthem. Samuelsson was at the medal ceremony despite the sixth place, when six skaters must be in place, and was then told “Yes, we love you” once again.
And now he’s had enough, and even says he’s betting on getting worse(!) if he doesn’t manage to win the next competition.
– I have been there (at the ceremony) twice now. And it has been full of Norway there. It feels like a punishment to stand there, actually. So next time I will either win or be number seven, he says to Norwegian NRK.
The great mockery of the expert
Sweden, and coach Johannes Lukas, also believe that the Norwegian dominance is bad for the sport. But NRK’s biathlon expert Ola Lunde disagrees. He believes that in previous years it was Russia and Germany that dominated, and he also has a call for Johannes Lukas and the Swedish stars.
– Go home and train!, he says.
Nor do the Norwegian practitioners see the dominance as something problematic.
– I hope the others get pissed off and want to get better. It is not our fault that we are good. It is our job to be that, says Endre Strömsheim.
