Northerners save less electricity than residents in southern Sweden – that’s what some Forsa residents think

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

According to the compilation, households in electricity price areas 3 and 4 have reduced their electricity consumption by 19 and 21 percent respectively in the last three months compared to the year before. At the same time, the northerners who live in electricity price areas 1 and 2 have saved 10 and 7 percent respectively during the same time.

– I have lowered the indoor temperature to 17 degrees inside, try to fire with wood and turn off the lights in all rooms I am not using, says Elisabeth Ziefelt.

Trying to save electricity

Most of the people we meet in Forsa say, like Elisabeth Ziefelt, that they do their best to save on electricity. But according to the survey, northerners are worse at saving electricity than those in southern Sweden.

– I could think that it has to do with the different electricity zones, that they have been hit harder by high electricity prices than here in the north, says Anton Bergström.

Northerners should also be compensated

But even if there is some understanding that people who live to the south have been hit harder, the Forsaborn seem to agree on one thing. That even northerners should be compensated for high electricity prices.

– Of course they should get electricity support, but I also think we should be part of that pot, says Elin Eriklinds
