Norfolk residents advised to prepare for potential ice storm

A winter storm watch is now in effect for Norfolk County.

Extended periods of freezing rain beginning late Wednesday and into Thursday in some areas may result in ice buildup that can lead to power outages, downed trees and road closures.

Norfolk County urges residents to monitor weather conditions, postpone non-essential travel, and refrain from parking on roads.

Public Safety Canada recommends residents create an emergency plan and prepare an emergency kit that includes drinking water, food, a flashlight, batteries, first-aid kit and medicine.

Norfolk County will announce closure or cancellation of services by 7 am on its @NorfolkCountyCA Twitter and Facebook accounts.
