Daniel Noboa, 35 years old and heir to a banana empire, is about to become the new president of Ecuador. The left-wing candidate Luisa González has already conceded defeat in Sunday’s decisive election round.
The second round was just between Noboa and González. In the first round in August, González received 33 percent of the vote against 24 for Noboa.
Noboa describes himself as center-left on the political scale, but outsiders describe him as neoliberal.
