No male player has been able to do the same

Sotkamon’s Jymy won the Finnish baseball championship against Vimpelin Veto. The championship is Jymy’s 20th in club history.

Sotkamon’s Jymy celebrates the Finnish baseball championship. Jymy secured the championship on Sunday, when it defeated Vimpel Vedo at the Hiukka baseball stadium in periods 1–0 (1–1, 3–2).

Jymy won the Finnish championship with a match victory of 3–1. The championship is Jymy’s 20th in club history.

The decision of the fourth final was seen in the second period, when the game manager Mikko Kuosmanen decided to attack Roope Korhonen and Aapo Komulainen in innings. It yielded two runs, which gave Jymy a 3–1 lead. Vimpelin Veto still got to the end of the run, but in the end, Jymy’s diamond outside game withstood the rush of the Vimpelians in the final moments of the match.

For Roope Korhonen, the championship was already the 13th of his career. No male player has been able to win as many SM golds.

– This is a great thing, that we handled this with this group. The away game was iron, Korhonen rejoiced.

Roope Korhonen’s season has been strong. In addition to the championship, he became the all-time hitter king in the men’s Superpesis regular season, won the hitter kingship and was chosen as the best player of the East-West match.

– This year has been incredible. No rats. I have to say that I do feel tired. It’s nice to get a breather.

– It can’t really get any better. I don’t know if he can score better in one season, Korhonen said.

Mikko Kuosmanen, who handled the role of Sotkamo Jymy’s game manager this summer, saw that Jymy won the championship thanks to its outside game.

– We started the season with the inside game ahead and made choices in order to improve the inside game. At some point, we came to the conclusion that we cannot win with the inside game and we have to rely on the outside game. We expected these weather conditions and made the right decisions, Kuosmanen told Urheilu.

Father and son

Mikko Kuosmanen revealed that he wanted to return to the management duties, because his own son played in the team Kalle Kuosmanen.

– It didn’t have that effect. I thought long and hard about leaving because of it. When we pressed the gas to the bottom, quite quickly this man also turned into an old coach-play director, Kuosmanen described.

Kalle Kuosmanen stated that he hasn’t had time to think about how special it is to win with his father.

– I haven’t given it much thought. Won’t that be realized later? A great thing for the whole family, Kalle Kuosmanen said with a smile.

Vimpelin Veto celebrated the championship of its game director last year Tomi Niskanen under. The winner of the regular season went into the final series as a favorite thanks to his wild indoor game arsenal.

– Everyone who follows the nests knew that the finals were going to be really tight. Sotkamo was good in momemtum moments. In the big picture, we were three games better. We weren’t able to turn the game around in those moments when we should have, Niskanen regretted.

– I don’t want to explain. Sotkamo was that much better.
