Nieuwegein coalition wants to continue on the same footing with

If it is up to the new coalition, almost all of Nieuwegein’s current aldermen will remain in place. For example, Marieke Schouten is a candidate alderman for GroenLinks with, among other things, the housing and energy transition portfolio. Ellie Eggengoor (VVD) also wants to become an alderman again and will keep the economy and mobility portfolios, for example. Finance comes in.

There is a changing of the guard at the PvdA. Hans Adriani recently decided not to return to the new council after ten years as an alderman. Guido Bamberg, an old acquaintance in Nieuwegein politics, takes over. He will probably become alderman for youth and poverty policy.

John van Engelen is now a member of the board on behalf of Local Renewal. The coalition would like to see him in that position again with portfolios such as culture, sport and education under him in the coming years. Nieuwegein is thus reducing from five to four aldermen, although one alderman now works part-time. Since the CDA is not part of the new coalition, alderman Jan Kuiper is leaving.
