Nick Kyrgios admits assault

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Kyrgios has previously tried to have the charges dismissed citing mental health issues, but the court has not agreed.

The trial was due to start in October last year but was postponed so that a psychiatric examination could be carried out.

Kyrgios arrived on court on crutches as he underwent knee surgery after pulling out of the Australian Open earlier this year with a knee injury.

The 27-year-old tennis player, ranked 20th in the world, is accused of knocking over his ex-girlfriend during an argument during a night out in Canberra in December 2021.

The crime can result in a maximum of two years in prison.
