390 bodies have been found in mass graves in Gaza – many of them women and children.

The investigation shows that they were executed, subjected to torture and in some cases buried alive.

– We are horrified, says the UN in a statement.

Several mass graves have been found at Nasser Hospital and Al Shifa Hospital in the Gaza Strip.

According to AP, many of the bodies must have been buried in connection with the hospital being besieged by the Israeli military (IDF) in March, when the dead could not be properly buried during ongoing fighting.

Over 390 bodies have been found under the hospitals, according to the UN Human Rights Council.

Many show signs of torture and execution, according to UN experts. Others appear to have been buried alive.

The UN says in a statement that it condemns the violence pregnant and breastfeeding women in Gaza are subjected to and describes the situation as “terrifying”.

Israeli snipers and direct bombardment of the hospitals are the biggest problem, according to UN experts.

– Over 183 women per day give birth without pain relief, while hundreds of children have died due to lack of electricity to power incubators. The appalling conditions have resulted in increases in miscarriages of up to 300 percent. 95 percent of pregnant and lactating women are affected by severe food poverty.

The UN experts now demand that Israel stop the attacks on civilians.

– Israel must cease all hostilities and states must cease all arms exports immediately. These states can no longer ignore the fact that the weapons are being used to kill and maim innocent women and children. There can be no more excuses. Women and children are entitled to special protection under international humanitarian law and human rights.
