Neymar’s tears last night – when Brazil lost for the first time in 22 years

Not only that Brazil lost a World Cup qualifier against Uruguay for the first time in 22 years.
The superstar Neymar left the field in tears and the arena on crutches.

Argentina storms through the South American World Cup qualifiers in soccer. Away against Peru it was 2-0, the fourth victory in as many games, after Lionel Messi scored both goals.

For the worst rival, Brazil, it is not as easy and free. Last week, the team lost points at home against Venezuela and against Uruguay they now scored zero in a World Cup qualifying match for the first time since 2015.

Uruguay’s Darwin Nunez was behind most of the 2–0 victory at home in Montevideo. First, the Liverpool forward headed in the lead in the 42nd minute and with about a quarter of an hour left to play, he then produced the masterpiece of the night.

Until the match against Uruguay, Brazil’s men’s national team had played 37 consecutive World Cup qualifying matches without a loss. Against Uruguay in particular, the same streak went even further back in time, and you have to go back all the way to 2001 to find the last Uruguayan win against Brazil before this one.

Neymar injured

The Brazilian headache was not lessened by the big star Neymar had to be carried out on a stretcher just before half time. The 31-year-old striker, now in Saudi al-Hilal, hurt his knee and was seen leaving the arena on crutches after the match.
