Newcastle without Isak overcame Leicester

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Already after half an hour, the match was basically decided. Because then in-form Newcastle had scored three goals. Chris Wood made it 1–0 via a penalty after two minutes played. Miguel Almirón made it 2-0 a few minutes later, and when Joelinton made it 3-0, the overrun was a fact.

Newcastle, with Swedish national team star Alexander Isak still on the injury list, fought back in the second half to win comfortably 3-0 at the King Power Stadium. The victory means that Newcastle are second in the table in the Premier League, four points behind league leaders Arsenal, who, however, have two games less played.

In the other Premier League games, Brighton beat Southampton 3–1, and Fulham beat Crystal Palace 3–0. Wolverhampton got off to a dream start under new manager Julen Lopetegui when they beat Everton 2-1 at Goodison Park.

English Boxing Day football continues later on Boxing Day. Aston Villa host Liverpool and Arsenal face West Ham in a London derby.
