New “sharper” brochure – “If the war comes”

A new version of the brochure “If the war comes” is expected to arrive in October.
The Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Authority sent out the latest version in 2018, but due to the security situation, they now want to release one with a sharper appearance.
– Everyone knows that the security policy situation looks different today, compared to 2018, and the brochure would of course have to reflect that, says Anna Wennerström, press officer at MSB,
to Echo.

The authority for social security and preparedness is working on producing a new version of the brochure “If the crisis or the war comes”, reports Ekot.

The leaflet is sent out to all households with advice on preparing for, for example, war, and the latest version was sent out in 2018. The advice can be anything from how much food and money to have in emergency stocks to get by for a week, to how to protects itself from misinformation.

Interest in this type of information was sparked after the invasion of Ukraine, and the digital version of the brochure was downloaded by hundreds of thousands of people in just a couple of weeks.

Sharper tone

Due to possible NATO membership and the security policy situation in Sweden, the new edition is said to be sharper in appearance.

– It is too early to comment on what an updated version of the brochure could look like. But everyone knows that the security policy situation looks different today, compared to 2018, and the brochure would of course have to reflect that, says Anna Wennerström, press officer at MSB, to Ekot.

Twice as fast

It usually takes over a year to produce such a brochure, a process that is now expected to go twice as fast – and be ready as early as October.

– But we will have to come back to when and how publication takes place, says Anna Wennerström.

The cost of the previous brochure was just over SEK 18 million. Considering inflation, the cost is now expected to be significantly higher than that.
