New MMORPG wants to be an alternative to WoW, has to face heavy criticism for PvP – now explains what’s changing

In Tarisland, players of the last beta complained a lot about the new MMORPG’s PvP gameplay. Now the developers have revealed in detail what will change.

What bothered the fans? The fans immediately criticized various points of PvP in Tarisland. The balancing was particularly difficult for the players; some classes were much stronger in PvP than others. The players were probably also bothered by the fact that PvP could only be played at certain times and the time it took to find a match was sometimes quite long.

The developers have now used the feedback, which was collected both via in-game surveys and in a separate channel in Discord, to announce the changes to PvP.

Goodbye PvP gear, hello badges

What is the most important change? The most important change to Tarisland’s PvP system relates to balancing. Not only will adjustments be made to the classes after the beta, Tarisland will also be throwing all PvP gear out of the game. The gear is to be replaced by a new system.

This is how the PvP gear is replaced: The so-called badge system is intended to replace the PvP gear. You can choose from a total of 16 badges. The badges are divided into 8 for “Ultimate Skills” and 8 for passive effects. Badges should also provide additional attributes. You can choose 3 badges with abilities and 3 badges with passive effects.

The developers have already shown some examples that show you what badges there could be.

  • Immobilization effects last x seconds longer
  • Restores x% HP to yourself for each player you meet
  • Inflicts stun for x seconds
  • Removes all control effects and grants 10% damage immunity for x seconds
  • After receiving lethal damage, instead of dying, restores x% of HP (only triggers once)
  • The developers warn that these are just examples and do not have to appear in the later game. The badges should be able to be upgraded and even if the PvE gear has an influence on PvP, PvP players should be able to concentrate entirely on the badges.

Fair arena and new game modes

What happens to Arena mode? Arena mode should now be fairer. The developers of Tarisland want the arena to function independently of values. All players should have characters with equally strong attributes. Victory should depend solely on skill, the developers write in their post (via Discord).

What about new game modes? The developers write in their post on Discord that they want to continue developing new game modes and are working on a better PvP experience. We have seen that “guild vs. guild” PvP and “open world” PvP are desired by many players and we are thinking about it.

The developers are also taking another look at the arena opening times. The community manager also answered some of the players’ questions in the comments under the Discord post. Most recently, the developers also announced important changes for the game’s PvE.
