New missile test from North Korea Urgently convene national security

North Korea has tested 8 ballistic missiles. The news was announced by the South Korean General Staff. It was reported that the Seoul government would convene the national security summit immediately after the missiles were fired one after the other. Kishi Nobuo, Minister of Defense of Japan “It is not unusual for North Korea to launch quite a large number of (missiles) in a short time and at several locations” made his comment.

NATIONAL SECURITY SUMMIT EMERGENCY MEETING

The missiles were launched at 09:08-09:43 local time from several locations, including Sunan, near the capital, Pyongyang, according to South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff.

After 8 short-range ballistic missile tests, it was reported that the Seoul government will convene the national security summit urgently.

Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio noted that a note was given to the Pyongyang administration regarding missiles falling outside the Japanese national exclusive zone.

Noting that they will not tolerate trials that threaten peace and stability, Kishida said, “We will continue our exploration and information activities in close coordination with the United States and South Korea.”

“NOT USED”

Japan’s Defense Minister Kishi Nobuo said, “It is not unusual for[North Korea]to launch quite a large number of[missiles]in a short time and at several locations,” commenting that “the successive launch capabilities may have been enhanced” in this way.

In a statement regarding the test, the US Indo-Pacific Forces (INDOPACOM) announced that they were “aware of (North Korea’s) multiple ballistic missile launches”.

Addressing the “destabilizing effects of (North Korea’s) illegal weapons program,” the statement emphasized the commitment of the United States to the defense of South Korea and Japan.

MISSILE TRIAL FROM NORTH KOREA AFTER MILITARY EXERCISES

It was noteworthy that the trials came after the joint military exercise, which was held for the first time in 4.5 years by the South Korea-USA and lasted for 3 days.

The exercise in international waters off Japan’s Okinawa Island was the first joint exercise involving a US aircraft carrier since November 2017.
