New injury for Hult: “Had time to ponder”

Elfsborg is extremely close to another SM gold, eleven years since the last one.

Niklas Hult is one of the players who was there as well – but missed the last two matches in the Allsvenskan in 2012 due to an injury.

Last Friday – with two matches left in this year’s Allsvenskan – bad luck struck again, this time in the form of a back shot.

Elfsborg took a chance on him being able to play. But already after just over a quarter of an hour in the 2-2 match against Degerfors, the gamble broke.

“We tried to make it work, but I got two early hits in the match and felt that it didn’t work,” says Niklas Hult afterwards.

— I got it in everyday life, it was nothing special, but it just stung my back. It was just pure bad luck.

Boateng injured

At the end of the match, Emmanuel Boateng was also forced to step off with a feared muscle tear in the back of one thigh.

He now risks missing the league final away to Malmö FF next Sunday.

– It is tedious. I have to do an MRI tomorrow or Wednesday, says Boateng.

— It feels hard already, I’m very disappointed, I really, really want to be on the pitch. It is the most important game of the season.

“shit same”

Niklas Hult is more hopeful ahead of the Malmö match, where Elfsborg needs at least a draw to secure the SM gold.

The back injury will hopefully heal in time so that it won’t be a sad repeat of the gold celebrations in 2012.

— Hope lives on, for me it really does. Just in these two days it went pretty fast. Now it’s been a week, so I hope there won’t be any problems, he says.

— But it’s really the same shit. I just want the team to win, whether I’m on the pitch or not doesn’t really matter.
