New horror hype is storming the US charts and it

Since the US theatrical release on September 9th, a lot of hype has developed around Barbarian. Director Zach Cregger’s new horror film has direct topped the box office charts and is celebrated by critical acclaim.

We have the most important information about Barbarian for you, which also features Pennywise actor Bill Skarsgård from the new It films. The trailer for the hype runs in the article image player above.

With Barbarian, a new horror highlight has appeared in the film landscape

In the plot of the horror film, Tess (Georgina Campbell) arrives at an AirBnB late one night in the pouring rain in Detroit for a job interview. Here she is received by Keith (Bill Skarsgård), who already lives there. He agrees to share the house with Tess for one night. The protagonist quickly bumps into one dark secret in the basementwhich turns into a nightmare.

Barbarian has already grossed $10 million in the US over its opening weekend and entered the box office at number 1. In addition comes a extremely good reviews average 93 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

For example, in his Variety review, Peter Debruge refers to the film as new horror classic:

To Cregger’s credit, the sense of fear he creates is the stuff the very best horror movies are made of. For female audiences, this equates to a real-world fear of not #MeToo victimization, and then surprises us with a whole different kind of terror.

Megan Navarro also celebrates Barbarian in her Bloody Disgusting review as one of the biggest surprises of the year:

Creggers carefully observes humanity through its best and worst, creating a visceral horror film. All the rules are thrown out the window, resulting in a confrontational and chilling film that like a freight train hits you and takes your breath away. It’s cleverly written, well done, and has a fantastic cast dedicated to madness. More importantly, it’s the kind of violent, ruthless, gory horror that leaves its mark. When is Barbarian opening in Germany?

Unfortunately, we cannot answer the most important question for you. Barbarian has not yet had a German theatrical release. After the US hype, an appointment shouldn’t be too long in coming.
