The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs conveyed a request to the Latvian Ambassador to Moscow to leave the country.

In a written statement made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was reminded that Latvia decided to lower the level of diplomatic relations with Russia.

Emphasizing that Latvia took this decision on the grounds of “solidarity” with other Baltic countries and this reason was not accepted by Russia, it was stated that the said solidarity meant taking hostile steps against Russia and directed by the USA.

In the statement, it was pointed out that the entire responsibility of the current situation belongs to the Latvian government, “Latvia’s Ambassador to Moscow Maris Riekstins was requested to leave Russia within 2 weeks. The provocative moves of the Latvian authorities to lower the level of diplomatic relations will have consequences.” (AA)
