On Thursday, Brazil steps into this year’s World Cup tournament when they face Serbia in Group G.
Someone who is clearly ready for the premiere is the brass superstar Neymar – who before the opening match sent out a cocky pass.
A pass that also caused reactions in the German camp.
As you know, the World Cup in Qatar is underway. One of the favorites to take home the gold is Brazil with its big star Neymar – everyday in French PSG – at the top. Now the 30-year-old has been responsible for a cocky performance in the run-up to the World Cup opener against Serbia on Thursday.

Ahead of this year’s championships, Brazil is the country that has won the most WC gold medals, five to be precise. The last one was salvaged in 2002 led by a certain Ronaldo. As a result of the five titles, you also have – above your country emblem – five gold stars.

In a picture that Neymar posted on his Instagram, you can see how he added a sixth star to the emblem, a cocky gesture that suggests that the brass and his national team are confident of victory and believe in a sixth World Cup title.

“Arrogant attack”
However, Neymar’s cocky passing to the competition has not been received with joy by everyone. The German newspaper Bild has described the picture as an “arrogant attack” while writing that “Neymar seems to have taken the victory already in advance”.

Perhaps the atmosphere between the two countries is a bit frosty, because no one has probably forgotten the meeting between the nations during the World Cup in 2014 when Germany – in Brazil – ran over the home team with a whopping 7-1. This year’s World Cup could also be Neymar’s third and last, as he previously announced that the World Cup in Qatar would probably be his last.
