Mysterious discovery in Egypt A 9 metre long secret corridor found in

A new discovery has been made in the Great Pyramid, one of the 7 wonders of the world, located in Giza, near the Egyptian capital, Cairo. A team of scientists from Project ScanPyramids identified a secret interior corridor 9 meters long and 2 meters wide above the main entrance. The secret corridor may have been built to redistribute the weight of the pyramid around the entrance or another room yet to be discovered, officials said.

First detected in 2016 using an imaging technique called muography, the gap was revealed thanks to an imaging method based on cosmic rays.

‘WE WILL CONTINUE LOOKING’

“We will continue to scan so we will see what we can do to find out what is under or at the end of the corridor,” Mostafa Waziri, Head of Antiquities at the Supreme Council of Egypt, said in a statement.

DON’T KNOW HOW IT WAS BUILT

One of the oldest and largest monuments in the world, the 146 meter high Great Pyramid was built on the Giza plateau during the fourth dynasty by Pharaoh Khufu or Cheops, who ruled from 2609-2584 BC. There is no consensus on how the Great Pyramid was built.
