Music from A-tractors wakes up residents – the police are roaring

The situation with A-tractors in Gällivare has derailed.
The young people play “absurdly loud music”, write the police, who appeal to parents to act.
– You can’t hear your TV, says Carola Norlin, who lives in the middle of town.

Young people who drive A-tractors with built-in sound systems keep the residents of Gällivare awake at night. Now the police are putting their foot down. Parents need to take responsibility and ensure that the young people do not disturb the public to the extent that is currently happening, the police write on Facebook.

Pensioner Carola Norlin lives in the middle of town and says she hears the young people every night.

– It is definitely bad. As recently as last night it was insanely loud. They play music, hoot and shout, she tells TV4 Nyheterna.

– It drowns out all other sounds, you can’t hear your TV, for example, she continues.

“Competing to see who has the best sound”

According to the police, it got out of control. The A-tractor youths just get messier and messier.

“The young people in many cases seem to be competing for who has the best sound, which triggers the whole thing even more. We are forced to spend an extremely large amount of resources on this on a daily basis – resources that we (and probably you!) wish we could have spent on other types of crime,” the police write on Facebook.

The Gällivare police have recently tried to talk to the young people repeatedly, to no avail. They point out that it is a crime to disturb the public with loud music.

– It is every evening, and every night. I’m a night owl myself, so my sleep is not disturbed by it. But there are many who talk about it, and I understand that there are many who cannot sleep, says Carola Norlin in Gällivare.

“Does your youth have a sound system in their tractor? Then it is your responsibility as a parent to ensure that it is not used incorrectly,” reads the police’s appeal.

– If you live in the city, you have to expect some noise, but not this kind, I don’t think so, says Carola.
