Murder investigation into missing baby in Märsta closed

At the end of March, the police received indications that an infant may have disappeared in Märsta, TV4 Nyheterna could previously tell. A preliminary investigation into murder was launched to investigate the information.

A man and a woman were arrested by the police. They were investigated for the murder suspicions and for a drug discovery that was made in the apartment building in connection with the police operation.

– It is about a larger quantity of narcotics, says Rickard Wahlqvist, senior chamber prosecutor.

Neighbor allegedly saw babies

The man was later arrested for serious drug offences, while the woman was released by the district court.

– She is not removed from the investigation but remains a suspect, says Rickard Wahlqvist.

At the same time, the family’s two children were immediately taken into the care of the social service in Sigtuna municipality with the support of LVU, the Act on the care of young people.

The administrative court then held a hearing regarding the decision and in connection with that the mother responded to the suspicions of infanticide. According to märsta.nu, the woman stated that she was neither pregnant nor gave birth to a child. She called the information gossip and rumours, and that it is a neighbor who claims to have seen her with an infant.

The court chose to take custody of both children, something that has now been appealed to the Court of Appeal.

The drug investigation continues: “Some concessions”

Now the prosecutor announces that it has chosen to close the investigation into the information about the missing infant.

– The preliminary investigation regarding murder is closed at the moment. We cannot prove that anyone was taken by day. A number of investigative measures have been taken. I can’t tell you any details but we investigated some facts. If you don’t even come across a deceased person, it is very difficult to establish that someone has been deprived of their life, so there is no reason to continue the investigation, says Rickard Wahlqvist.

The preliminary investigation into a serious drug crime is still ongoing and the man is in custody.

– He has made certain concessions, but I do not want to go into any details. We are now taking the usual investigative measures, the narcotics must be analyzed for type and quantity and this takes some time at the NFC (national forensic centre).
