Monaco PSG Paris held in check the match summary

Jostled and saved by a great Donnarumma, Paris Saint-Germain conceded the draw in Monaco (0-0), Friday evening at the opening of the 24th day of Ligue 1.

23:18 – The match summary: Monaco upset PSG

At the end of a fast-paced and exciting meeting, Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain ultimately failed to decide between themselves (0-0), this Friday for the 24th day of League 1. A goalless draw in which Gianluigi Donnarumma has a great responsibility, as he repelled all the attempts of the Monegasques. With a reshuffled eleven for the Champions League round of 16 second leg against Real Sociedad next Tuesday, Paris suffered attacks from ASM in the first period. Balogun (4th), Minamino (16th) and Ben Yedder (25th) test the Italian goalkeeper, as does Akliouche (29th and 45th+3). Apart from a curled shot from Marco Asensio (21st), the Parisians had great difficulty getting closer to Radoslaw Majecki’s goal.

At the break, Luis Enrique decides to replace Kylian Mbappé, who was however not injured. Taking advantage of the Monegasques’ slump, the Ile-de-France residents are much sharper, notably through Bradley Barcola, very restless and close to adjusting Radoslaw Majecki twice (62nd, 68th). But like Donnarumma, Majecki pushes everything back again and again in front of Vitinha (75th). The two teams finally separated in a logical draw (0-0), after a very interesting match to follow. In the standings, PSG maintains the lead with 12 points ahead of its runner-up, Brest, which has one game less, and 13 more than ASM, still 3rd but now under threat from Nice, which goes to Toulouse on Sunday.

23:10 – Mbappé would not have come out injured

According to initial information from Prime Video, Kylian Mbappé’s exit is not linked to an injury but to a choice by Luis Enrique. This is likely to cause a lot more talk in the coming days.

23:04 – Monaco-Golovin: “We deserved to score”

Aleksandr Golovin, the Russian midfielder from AS Monaco, had regrets at the Prime Video microphone after the final whistle: “We had a good match, we had a lot of chances to score, with good pressing. It was a good match but I think we deserved to score at least two goals. We were tired in the second half after spending a lot of energy in the first half. They are a good team who are not easy to press for 90 minutes.”

22:58 – PSG still solid leader

With this draw gleaned in Monaco (0-0), Paris Saint Germain obviously retains the lead in Ligue 1, with twelve points ahead of Brest (one game in less) and thirteen over Monaco, which could see the OGC Nice will take third place if successful in Toulouse on Sunday (1 p.m.).

22:34 – Paris is better

The Parisians are better in this second half than during the first 45 minutes and manage to bother the Monegasque team more constantly. Even if it doesn’t pay off on the scoreboard.

22:30 – Monaco: Akliouche replaced

Maghnes Akliouche gives way to Eliesse Ben Seghir for the last 20 minutes of the match for AS Monaco. Adi Hütter must feel his team is struggling physically, it shows.

22:27 – Good anticipation from Donnarumma

Gianluigi Donnarumma intercepts a deep ball intended for Balogun and allows himself to restart perfectly with his left foot, which arouses applause from Luis Enrique.

22:23 – Barcola crushes his shot too much

Bradley Barcola makes a good entry into play. It’s him again who eliminates two players by getting ahead of everyone before hitting at the edge of the area but it’s directly at Majecki.

Kylian Mbappé returned, in a tracksuit, to the Paris Saint-Germain bench. He doesn’t seem to be limping low and perhaps didn’t want to take any risks before the Champions League match against Real Sociedad.

22:11 – Ben Yedder calls for a penalty, in vain

Wissam Ben Yedder claims a penalty for a handball in the area by Achraf Hakimi. Mr. Buquet signaled to continue playing and the VAR signaled nothing either.

21:58 – PSG is in difficulty

If the score remained stuck at 0-0 during the first period, the Parisians can be happy with this virtual point from the draw in Monaco. The Monegasques must still ask themselves how they are not leading, after great opportunities for Balogun (5th), Minamino (16th), Ben Yedder (25th) and Akliouche (29th and 45th+3). But each time, Gianluigi Donnarumma has repelled the attempts and saved PSG so far.
