MMORPG Lost Ark gets a new class today – Is so strong that many are already afraid of a nerf

On May 10th, the first part of the “Slay your way to Elgacia” update will come in Lost Ark and, in addition to some changes, will also bring a popular and strong new class to the west: the butcher. Here we explain why you shouldn’t get excited too soon.

What does the update bring? In addition to the new class, May is mostly about “Quality of Life” updates. Also included is the new Ebony Dice, which replaces and merges the previous Boss Rush and Dice mechanics.

You can also expect nice little things. The two pistol classes, i.e. Deadeye and Gunslinger, can no longer only switch through their arsenal of weapons, but also put them away. This should contribute to immersion and is actually very well received by the community.

The knowledge transfer system will also be improved. This should make it easier for you in the future to push new characters through the story for little gold and bring them directly to level 50.

What is the highlight in May? The highlight of the patch, however, is clearly the new class. With the butcher (english Slayer) the penultimate new class comes to the west. Then our version is only one class behind Korea.

The Butcher is a female version of the Berserker, making it the first female warrior class. She wields a greatsword into combat, and her class engravings focus on specialization rather than crit and agility like the maddened berserker.

The last new class was the artist:

Butcher tops DPS lists, comes with seductive event

Why is the class the highlight? The Butcher is very high in the tier lists in both PvE and PvP. She has massive burst potential and her damage per second is also massive. With the right gear, she can deal over a billion damage at once, far dwarfing most other classes (via YouTube).

In addition, the greatsword is already a popular weapon in the community, as there are many appealing skins for the weapon and the so-called “glow” is correspondingly large and striking. Glow refers to the weapon’s ever-increasing glow, which gets bigger the more you improve the weapon.

What else can tempt you: Furthermore, a new progression event starts with the release of the Butcher. You’ll get a power pass again, which this time will push you to Gearscore 1,340. This time it’s also for players who haven’t played a character that far. The only requirement is that your account has existed since at least December 2022.

From 1,340 you can then start the new event that will help you to get to item level 1,460. There are materials for free, improved chances when upgrading and many useful items as well as 4 free, time-limited engravings.

The new class won’t stay as strong

Why you shouldn’t get excited too early: The class is so enormously strong that the fans in Korea are already firmly assuming a nerf, i.e. a weakening of the butcher. A patch for the Korean servers is currently announced for May 12th, shortly after the release of the class here (via reddit).

So far there are no patch notes, but most experts agree: the nerf of the Slayer must come. Even if he doesn’t appear just yet, the butcher may not be able to maintain her tremendous performance.

However, since the class is coming to us with the May patch on May 10th, it almost certainly does not have the nerf on board yet. So you run the risk of playing a class that could lose a lot of power and damage with the next update.

Like every new class, you probably have to put a lot of gold on the table for the butcher in order to get good equipment for her shortly after the release. So think twice about whether it’s really worth it for you.

What do you think of the butcher? Don’t you care about the upcoming nerf? Or didn’t you feel like going to class anyway? Write it to us in the comments here at MeinMMO.
