Franco Basanesze, a 45-year-old Merlin man reported missing on March 15, was found dead on Thursday, Chatham-Kent police reported.
Police said a post-mortem examination has been scheduled in order to determine the cause of death, which is not deemed to be suspicious.
The police service extended its sincere condolences to the family and friends of Basanesze.
Uttering threats
A phone call allegedly received while Chatham-Kent police were present resulted in a 35-year-old Wallaceburg man being charged with uttering threats.
Police responded to an address on Running Creek Drive in Wallaceburg at 6:30 pm Thursday about reports of a dispute with a man.
While officers were providing advice to the complainants, the accused allegedly called and threatened the complainants, police said.
Officers located the man and arrested him. He was taken to police headquarters and later released with a June 8 court date, police said.
Breaking the peace
A 32-year-old Chatham woman was arrested after Chatham-Kent police responded to a disturbance at an Emma Street address in Chatham at 4:25 am Friday.
When the woman – believed to be under the influence of an intoxicating substance – was located, she was allegedly refusing to leave the area and was acting aggressively towards others.
The woman was arrested for breaching the peace and transported to police headquarters and held until sober, police said.
Traffic enforcement
Members of the Chatham-Kent police traffic unit were using a light detection and ranging device – colloquially known as a LiDAR speed gun – while conducting traffic enforcement in Tilbury on Thursday.
The officers were using the device on Queen Street North and Mill Street, which resulted in one ticket being issued, police said.
