Meta has just announced the arrival of new 3D avatars. These virtual characters can be used in Facebook and Messenger, as well as in the metaverse with Meta Quest headsets (ex-Oculus). For the first time, 3D avatars are also coming to Stories and direct messages on Instagram. Meta says he worked on the design of his characters to be even more reflective of the uniqueness of the billions of people on the planet. New face shapes and skin colors have been added, as well as devices for the disabled, for example wheelchairs or hearing aids.

And if you have already created an avatar, it will be automatically improved during the update. In addition, it is possible to create three different avatars depending on the platform you use (Facebook/Messenger, Instagram, and virtual reality) with possible synchronization of the changes you make to them.

Meta has also teamed up with the National Football League (NFL) for the next Super Bowl, which will take place on February 13. Users will be able, until February 28, to dress their avatar in an outfit touting their favorite team, the Cincinnati Bengals or the Los Angeles Rams.

The new 3D avatars will initially be available in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Meta has not yet indicated when they will be deployed in Europe, and more specifically in France.
