Mediocre tank gets buffs, is suddenly super strong, makes pro scream loudly

Patch 13.21 was released on Wednesday, October 25th and brought some changes to League of Legends, including for the tank hybrid K’Sante. It became stronger across the board, as a professional discovered, apparently unprepared.

What kind of tank is this?

This is how strong K’Sante is now: In the latest patch 13.21, K’Sante received buffs to all of his abilities. He now deals more damage and can use his skills more reliably. You can find the patch notes in detail on the official LoL website.

The buff has a big impact on his win rate. From around 50%, K’Sante now rises to almost 60% of games won in the upper range and, according to OP.GG, is the absolute strongest top lane champ in the Platinum range and above.

The higher the rank, the stronger K’Sante becomes. Where it is still at 51.23% in Platin+, it is already 55.83% in the Grandmaster tier and even 57.41% in the Challengers. Not even Jax is that strong right now.

Jankos plays against the “new” K’Sante and completely freaks out

K’Sante has already emerged as a strong choice in the LEC. G2 Esports owes its victory to both K’Sante in the top lane and Rell in Jungle, which hardly anyone expected.

K’Sante is also currently being played frequently in LoL Worlds. According to the analysis site Games of Legends, K’Sante is the most played top lane champ with 15 picks – much to the dismay of some pros.

Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski, the Heretics jungler, encountered the strong tank hybrid in a match. His reaction: after he kills himself after a 4-on-1 that lasts far too long, he loudly shouts insults at his computer (careful, loud!):

There have been some cynics on Twitter who claim that K’Sante has now been given buffs to push the new LoL boy band Heartsteel. K’Sante is part of this new force. But developer David “Phreak” Turley denies this and says: Before the patch, he didn’t even know that K’Sante had gotten a new skin here.

Since the patch has just been released, the numbers will probably level off a bit. Nevertheless, it is foreseeable that K’Sante will now be significantly higher than before. But this will no longer help some professionals:
