The swarm ofshooting Stars des iota-Aquarides sud is active from July 25 to August 15. Its strange name comes from the constellation from which it comes: the constellation of Aquarius, Aquarius in Latin.

This swarm is part of a complex set of radiants located in the constellation of Aquarius, active in July and August. Discovered in 1877, it was long confused with the delta-Aquarid swarm.

To observe the southern iota-Aquarids, it will be necessary to look in the direction of the constellation Aquarius, to the right of it above the southwestern horizon, around 3:00 UT. The hourly rate is really low: two per hour at the time of the maximum. But these meteors will be mixed with the other swarms, which should still give more than two meteors per hour.

The absence of the Moon will only be beneficial.
