Matti Heikkinen nominated for top position in sports

The former top skier confirmed to Sport for the final stage as the head of the Olympic Committee’s top sports unit.

Former top skier Matti Heikkinen is one of the top candidates for the head of the Olympic Committee’s top sports unit. Heikkinen confirmed the matter to Sport.

– Yes, that’s true. I’m probably a top candidate and I’m still involved in the process.

The search for the head of the top sports unit is nearing completion. According to Heikkinen, the board of the Olympic Committee will meet to consider the election on Monday.

Heikkinen did not yet want to take a position on the direction in which he would like to take top Finnish sports.

– We will return to them in due course, if it happens that I will be elected to that position. At that point, we will talk more about these, Heikkinen said.

– I have grown up in sports, and sports have not left me in any way. That task would, in a way, be a return home. Let’s see what future decisions will bring when they come.

The head of the Olympic Committee’s top sports unit in Pest entered an open call in March when Mika Lehtimäki resigned after receiving a warning about inappropriate behavior against women in the work community.
