Matthias has driven 200 kilometers for the rally in his Trabant: “It’s an adventure”

It took Matthias Schübel three days to drive from western Germany to Umeå to experience the rally, a distance of almost 200 kilometres. With a top speed of 92 kilometers per hour

– It’s a slow drive, but I have time to see the surroundings then

“More snow”

In order to drive that far, he has, among other things, a spare canister of fuel with him. The first time Matthias Schübel visited the rally championship in Sweden was in 1999. He has since returned several times to take part in the competitions.

Is there any difference in the rally now compared to when it was in Värmland?

– Yes, there is much more snow now, but the people are just as cordial and kind as in Värmland, he says.

Back with more

On Sunday, he begins the journey back – but will return next year and then with more friends and their Trabanter.

– I was the first, next year there will be more of us.
