Many call 112 unnecessarily – not always necessary in the event of traffic accidents

The weather is expected to be stormy on the coast in the coming days and the Swedish Transport Administration is urging people to stay inside. But if you are involved in a traffic accident, what should you do – and should you always call 112?

– Many times people call and want us to come to the scene even though nothing criminal has happened, says traffic police officer Johan Löfstedt in Umeå.

A third of the calls to 112 are unnecessary and mean that the response time in a real emergency can be longer than necessary.
