Manse PP celebrated the victory but still succumbed to signal

Manse PP tied the Superpesis final series in an exciting take-home shot competition. Game director Antti Vihtkari informed that the team still fell into marking mistakes in the opening period.

Manse PP stretched the decision of the women’s Superpesis season on Sunday as Pesäkarhuje’s guest, when it claimed a 2–1 (0–1, 6–1, 5–4) victory in front of the 2,000-strong Pori audience.

The Finnish women’s baseball championship will therefore be decided on Saturday next week at the Kaupi baseball stadium in Tampere.

The outcome of the match was extremely exciting, as the home run competition continued until the third innings. In that case, they became the decision maker Siri School and Anna Ala-Kauhalumawho repatriated Saga-Angelia Raudasojan and Kiira Kauton.

– This was through the longest formula that can go. Yes, it was exciting, but I also trusted our outside game, that we only need to make a few runs in the hoops. It wasn’t necessary. We fought until the end, Eskola tells Urheilu.

– I liked it. It’s wonderful that the series will continue until next week.

Manse PP rallied after the break

Päsäbarhut narrowly took the opening period 1–0, when Manse PP again had difficulties with their inside game. After the break, however, Manse was in top form. It beat no less than 6-1 in the second period with attacking tactics.

– We talked during the break that there is still no need to perform miracles. We only remove the character mistakes that were in the first episode, Eskola states.

Eskola played a big role in the takedown competition, as he dropped two keys to the second limit before the decision. Super fast Saga-Angelia Raudasoja pinged in the home nest, and no Emilia Eastern Light was able to set fire to the nest.

– Homecoming hitting competitions are all about the little ones. We scored runs in each pair and two more in the first. Eskola made good runs at the start and that made things difficult, Pesäkarhuje’s game manager Jarkko Pokela regretted.

Lost in a frenzy

Virpi Hukka was one of the heroes of Tampere. He scored two runs and collected a game-high 11 RBIs. He failed in the match only once in the second shift.

– We managed to turn the situation around in the second period, when Hukka hit a run with a hook pass. We got the game going, Manse PP’s game director Antti Vihtkari pondered.

Vihtkari felt that the people of Tampere were more persistent on Sunday. He considered the fifth game game-wise deserved, but knew there was plenty of room for improvement.

– We still had quite a lot of signal errors in the game. We fell into them in the first episode, Vihtkari said.

Marking mistakes have been talked about for Manse PP throughout the final series. Why so?

– I can’t answer that. Ask any player, Vihtkari replied.

During the series, it has become apparent that Pesäkarhut is at least partly disgusted by the Tampere brand. Sports expert Kirsi Ala-Lipasti believes that the people of Tampere have had to change brands during the series.

– Pori has been at least partially aware of the sign. It causes those little sign errors. Now they have a week to sharpen the sign or make a completely new sign, so that there are no mistakes a week later, when it is the most important game of the season, says Ala-Lipasti.
