Shortly after 11:30 p.m. on Monday, the police received a call about a fight in central Motala. Once there, two men in their 40s and 25s were found with injuries inflicted by a sharp object. The older of the men died of his injuries, relatives have been informed.
The younger man was talkative when the police arrived. He is taken to hospital.
– The crime must have taken place outside a grocery store in a residential area, says Lars-Göran Nilseryd, officer on duty at the police in Öst.
One person has currently been arrested and a preliminary investigation into murder and attempted murder has been established.
Police have cordoned off the site for a technical investigation and are knocking on doors in the area.
It is believed that the suspected perpetrator and the two victims know each other from before.
– They are not related but should have a relationship of friends. We have received certain explanations for what has happened, but we cannot go into that at the moment, says Lars-Göran Nilseryd.
The police believe that more people may be arrested.
– There have been more people at the scene and we have to investigate their activities throughout, says Nilseryd.
