A 25-year-old man in Haninge had installed lighting in his car that flashed blue and red light. He then drove around pretending to be an emergency vehicle and exercising authority.

A police officer, who was not on duty, was overtaken on the E18 by pretend police and then decided to take up the chase. The 25-year-old man was stopped by the real police.

Installed the blue light to make money on TikTok

In an interrogation, the 25-year-old states that the remote control for the lights was at his home and that he did not know that the lighting device could be used without the remote control.

There was no button inside the car where you could turn on the lights.

He also said that the reason he installed the string lights in the first place was to make money on TikTok. He was aware that you may not use blue light devices in traffic.

Sentenced to 40 daily fines

The man is now sentenced to 40 daily fines of SEK 270/day, which is a total of SEK 10,800.
