The probe was launched after information was received in October 2019 about employment records being falsified, police said Thursday.

The investigating officer identified a suspect, established grounds to lay charges and make an arrest, and obtained a warrant when the suspect could not be located, police said.

Provincial police arrested a man in Leamington Wednesday, police said.

A 27-year-old Pain Court man is charged with fraud under $5,000 and five counts of falsifying employee records, police said. It was released with conditions and an April 5 short date.

Man charged in Jan. 2 break-in: Chatham-Kent police

A Chatham resident faces charges in connection with a break-in at a Harwich Township business in early January, Chatham-Kent police say.

Officers responded to a break-in, in which a pickup truck had been stolen, at a Talbot Trail business in Harwich Township on Jan. 2, police said.

The stolen pickup truck was recovered on King Street in Chatham later that day, police said.

Through investigation, officers identified a suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest, police said. This was followed by a probation warrant for his arrest being issued on Feb. 9.

Officers located and arrested a suspect on Grand Avenue West in Chatham at 1:38 p.m. Wednesday, police said.

A 42-year-old Chatham man is charged with breaking and entering, possessing stolen property and failing to comply with a probation order, police said. He was held pending a bail hearing.
