Man charged after Blenheim apartment clashes police

A Blenheim resident faces charges after a man clashed with his mother and another woman early Friday, police say.

Officers called to a disturbance at a Chatham Street North apartment in Blenheim about 1 am learned a man upset by noise began banging on unit doors, Chatham-Kent police said.

The man pushed a tenant who tried to speak to him down a hallway, then returned to his unit when approached by a second tenant, police said. There, he argued with his mother, grabbing and pushing her.

A Blenheim man, 57, is charged with two counts of assault, police said. He was released with conditions and a June 26 short date.

Woman hurt, man charged

A man faces charges after a woman was hurt during a clash in Wallaceburg Thursday afternoon, police say.

Officers responding to a reported assault at a Gillard Street residence about 5 pm learned a man pushed and struck a woman, causing visible injuries, as she was tried to leave during an argument, police said.

Officers arrested a suspect on Wallace Street, police said.

A Township man, 33, is charged with two counts of assault. He was released later with conditions and a June 26 short date.

Workers help nab theft suspect

Employees of a local business helped nab a man suspected of stealing from vehicles, Chatham-Kent police say.

Officers were called to Grand Avenue West in Chatham for a theft probe about 8 am, police said.

Employees caught a suspect entering vehicles in the business’s rear parking lot and turned him over to the officers, police said.

A man, 31, is charged with theft and possessing stolen property, He was released with June 26 court date.

Vehicles damaged, teen charged

A teen faces charges after vehicles were damaged in a Chatham parking lot, police say.

Officers called to a Victoria Avenue business learned a female had been seen ripping the rear wiper off one vehicle and throwing rocks at others, police said. They arrested a suspect.

A female, 17, who can’t be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with two counts of mischief, police said. She was held pending a bail hearing.
