Lucas, 13, took his own life after months of homophobic bullying

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Finally, 13-year-old Lucas couldn’t take it anymore. After being bullied for months because he was gay, he chose on January 7 this year to end his own life.

On Sunday, 500 people gathered for a silent march – to pay tribute to Lucas.

At the front of the train walked Lucas’ mother, Séverine.

– He lives on in this tribute. He lives on in all of us, she says.

Two boys and two girls on trial

Last year, a new criminal classification was introduced in France regarding harassment that leads to suicide. Under French law, 13-year-olds can be tried for their actions in a special juvenile court.

Two boys and two girls will stand trial following an examination of Lucas’ diary, social media, mobile phones and questioning of classmates.

– I have to blame them. My son no longer exists because they were mean to him, says mother Séverine.
