LSS residents locked up – minister’s response required

According to Ivo, residents are monitored and eavesdropped in various ways, everything from alarmed doors to peepholes into apartments. In addition, there is a lack of knowledge among both staff and those responsible for the LSS accommodation.

“To a certain extent, it is institution-like operations that we come out to,” Lars Rahm, head of unit at Ivo, told TT early on.

The organization FUB, which works for children, young people and adults with developmental disabilities, has together with Autism Sweden written a letter to the Minister of Social Services, Camilla Waltersson Grönvall (M). There they repeat, among other things, previous demands for a national skills lift for LSS in particular. They also want to see a national competence center for intellectual disability and autism.

“It is a big betrayal of the small group of vulnerable people who find it difficult to make their own case,” said FUB chairman Anders Lago in connection with the publication of the report.

FUB and Autism Sweden want to see a meeting with the minister to be able to discuss the issue further.

It was at the end of September that the Inspectorate for Care and Care presented the review which showed deficiencies in 80 out of 90 LSS residences.

Ivo stated that a large percentage of people who live in group housing do not have their rights to live like others fulfilled.
