Several people in Umeå have heard of loud explosions in Umeå.
– It sounded like a big detonation, says a person who contacted SVT on Tuesday afternoon.
Another who heard the sound describes it as “a bloody bang” in the direction north of Mariehem. Even in Röbäck, people have heard the bang.
“Strong bang so the whole house shook,” writes one person on social media.
The police’s press department states that it is not possible to say for sure what caused the explosion.
– What we know is that there is planned work going on at Avion that could lead to explosions. So far we have not received anything else, says the RLC officer at the police.
No earthquake
Björn Lund, seismologist at Uppsala University, sees no indications of an earthquake.
– It is clearly not an earthquake, nor a major explosion. We don’t see anything in our data that indicates that, says Björn Lund.
According to him, it is often the air force that has passed through the sound barrier when it is heard or makes a lot of noise.
