Long term rental contracts grow by double digits in 2022

(Finance) – The long-term car rental grew up by 15.8% in 2022with a total of 617,776 contracts registered. It is announced by theUNRAE explaining that the division between the two macro-areas of users sees the majority share of 85.2% still the prerogative of the Companies, holders of 526,606 contracts (+16.3% on 2021), and the remaining share of 14.8% in favor of Private users, which with 91,170 contracts grew by 12.8% on the previous year.

The diesel still continues to be the fuel of choice among nearly all long-term rental users, even if the general trend is constantly decreasing to the advantage above all of hybrids (HEV), growing in all channels, and of traditional petrol engines. To use i diesel most of all are still the non-automotive companies (where this supply reaches 63.9% of the share), while in the petrol engines short-term rental companies prevail (39.5% share).

The region where the greatest use of long-term rental is made in Italy is Lombardy (31.2% of contracts), followed by Lazio (13.9%) and Piedmont (13.3%). But Calabria has the primacy of contracts in the private user channel (39%), followed by Puglia (30.9%) and Molise (29.9%) which slightly exceeds Campania (29.7%). Naples (30%) and Bari (27.6%), where the high costs of insurance weigh, maintain the primacy among the provinces.
