A court in Finland has sentenced a 26-year-old man to prison for six years and three months for data breaches. The man, who is a notorious hacker, has stolen thousands of sensitive data records from psychiatry and tried to extort money from patients.

There have been over 20,000 plaintiffs in the case, but a total of 33,000 victims of the data breach. The case has sparked anger and disgust in Finland.

The man was arrested by French police near Paris in 2023, where he was living under a false identity. He was extradited to Finland, where the trial has now been held in the Västra Nyland district court.
