“I don’t want to show but make you want to see.” We could add to this quote from our filmmaker of the day that she will even, with her work, make you want to live. Not only showing, but making you want to see, that’s really what motivated photographer, screenwriter, director, producer, visual artist Agnès Varda.
A major Viva Varda exhibition has just opened its doors in the French Cinematheque in Paris and we welcome its curator Florence Tissot.
As well as the documentary filmmaker Pierre-Henri Gibert whose free portrait “Viva Varda” will be broadcast on Arte, November 6, 2023 (and available on the platform arte.tv).
In 70 years of career, Agnès Varda will have created around forty films, short and feature films, fiction and documentaries, works of contemporary art, hybridizing forms, escaping boxes to build a polymorphous work.
