The range of villas in Gällivare-Malmberget is not overwhelming. On the site Hemnet there are three villas for sale.
– It is a problem in Gällivare that there are very few homes and we have a constant dialogue with Gällivare municipality about how we can increase construction, admits Jan Moström, president and CEO at LKAB.
30 billion in the bank
But he still does not see it as an opportunity to build villas on his own as compensation for the residents of eastern Malmberget, or Malmsta as the area is also called.
You have 30 billion in the bank, you couldn’t afford to be a little nicer to those who live there among the earthquakes?
– In order for us to be, if we are to call it neat, those who live in the Malmsta area must be covered by our environmental conditions. And they actually don’t, says Jan Moström.
