Listen to the world at the market

Listen to the world at the market

Voices shouted and chanted, lively and singing, low and high… Do all the markets in the world give voice? From Bobo-Dioulasso in Burkina Faso, via Milan in Italy and as far as Tehran in Iran, the sound polyphony of a large imaginary market.

Listening to the world is a radio program replayed in podcast here, but also a participatory sound platform dedicated to listening. It archives and provides free access to more than 200 sound recordings sent from all over the world, to be found on The sound map.

This episode was produced with sound contributions from: Monica Fantini in Bobo-Dioulasso and Milan and Nicolas Falez in Tehran.
