Linda Hamilton Admits She Didn’t Take Arnold Schwarzenegger Seriously While Filming Terminator: ‘He Was A Showoff’

Linda Hamilton Admits She Didnt Take Arnold Schwarzenegger Seriously While

Today, the Terminator is probably the most famous role of Arnold Schwarzenegger. But when James Cameron’s sci-fi film came out in 1984, the bodybuilder was still relatively early in his film career. And especially his co-star Linda Hamilton had serious doubts about his cast as the Terminator.

Linda Hamilton thought Arnold Schwarzenegger was a busybody before Terminator

In the Netflix documentary Arnold, Linda Hamilton recalled the beginning of the Terminator franchise. For her, the sci-fi film was just another small job whose script didn’t convince her. Nobody knew then that the film, budgeted at 6 million dollars, would gross almost 80 million dollars. She had even greater concerns about casting Arnold Schwarzenegger as the T-800 robot. However, this first negative impression did not last. Much like the Terminator franchise, the evil robot became an ally in Linda Hamilton’s eyes.

At the next meeting for the sequel Terminator 2 – Judgment Day, a certain competitive relationship had even developed between Schwarzenegger and Hamilton, because, as our colleagues from Espinof reported, the Terminator star was amazed at Linda Hamilton’s muscles:

I stared at her arms. The triceps, the veins of the biceps. She was like a miniature bodybuilder and I couldn’t believe she was more defined than me.
