Lily-Rose Depp in the new trailer for The Idol

The Idol has everything a series could wish for. Euphoria maker Sam Levinson and superstar The Weeknd as creative minds. Lily-Rose Depp (The King) stars in front of the camera. Previous reports draw, however a disturbing image from the shooting of a work, described as “torture porn” and “rape fantasy”. Now there is a new trailer.

The Idol starring Lily Rose-Depp is already considered an offensive disaster

The HBO series revolves around aspiring musician Jocelyn (Rose-Depp) who meets producer Tedros (The Weeknd). The relationship pulls the young woman into a vortex of sex, drugs, wild creativity and brutal public pressure.

As Rolling Stone reports, there is said to be chaos behind the scenes in the production. Levinson and The Weeknd had the film’s original message in “sexual torture porn” and a “rape fantasy”, such anonymous sources. In fact, director Amy Seimetz (Alien: Covenant) surprisingly left the project in 2022 after most of the episodes had already been completed. Many scenes are said to have been completely re-shot as a result.

When is The Idol coming to Germany?

The Idol is due on June 4, 2023 to appear on HBO. There is no German start date yet. Like some other HBO productions in this country, the series is to appear on Sky and WOW.
