While thunderstorms continued in Washington DC, firefighters announced that lightning struck Lafayette Park, just outside the White House, and 2 people were killed and 2 injured in the incident.

CRITICAL CONDITION OF THE INJURED

Washington DC Fire Department Spokesperson Vito Maggiolo stated that the people who lost their lives were James Mueller (76) and Donna Mueller (75), and the condition of 2 injured was critical.

Emphasizing that the secret service personnel and the park police provided first aid to the injured, Maggiolo did not explain why the victims were in the park at that time.
