Leo Carlsson and two more Swedish talents can make history in the NHL right now

This summer’s NHL draft could be historic for Sweden.
When three great Swedish talents are tipped to go record high, according to North American media.
Where Leo Carlsson is clearly the biggest name and the one most people have their eyes on.

Swedish hockey is heading towards the best NHL draft ever when three of our biggest blue-and-yellow talents can make history in the NHL right now. At least that’s what TSN’s experienced draft expert thinks Craig Button in his most recent ranking of all eligible players ahead of the NHL draft.

New NHL record

The current record is seven selected Swedes in the first round from 2009. Then Victor Hedman was chosen as number two, Oliver Ekman Larsson as number six and Magnus Pääjärvi went like ten.

But 14 years later, that record could be erased by the 2023 draft during the NHL draft that takes place in Nashville on June 29. TSN expert Button has released his final and final draft rankings and points out seven Swedes who will be selected in the first round.

Carlsson first

But what beats the Swedish record from 2009 is that three Swedes are expected to be in the top eight this time. Leo Carlson is the most talked about name and he is tipped to go as number three, after the big talents Connor Bedard and Adam Fantilli.

After that is expected Axel Sandin Pellikka go as fifth and Tom Willander as number eight. Other Swedes who are singled out to be selected during the first round are Otto Stenberg, David Edstrom, Theo Lindstein and Anton Wahlberg.

Most things say that it will be the Columbus Blue Jackets who get the chance to select 18-year-old Carlsson, who had great success during the hockey World Cup, as number three in the NHL draft. He then becomes only the seventh Swede to be selected top three in NHL history after big names such as Mats Sundinthe brothers Daniel and Henrik Sedin, Gabriel Landeskogpreviously mentioned Hedman and Rasmus Dahlin.
